Hello Soccer Lovers….
And so begins Italy and Spain battling it out for the Euro Cup. I predict Italy. There is the energy of Mario Balotelli, even though Spain has won the last two. * Incroccio le dita!!!!!*
We are doing the traditional Prosecco, crumbled Parmesan, Potato Chips and Olives, as though we were in Italy! Let the game begin!

July 1, 2012 at 6:28 pm
Sounds delicious! Forza Azzurri!
July 1, 2012 at 6:30 pm
Spain will win, maybe overtime or in the last few minutes. At least that was my dream last night.
July 1, 2012 at 6:34 pm
Hi, Ursula Rodgers Certo! And hello, Suzanne Catty! How can one argue with a good soccer dream!!!! Buona fortuna to your team!

Agreement on the #Batoltelli factor.
July 1, 2012 at 6:36 pm
Dove siete oggi Claudio Romagnoli e pio dal cin ?
July 1, 2012 at 6:36 pm
I wrote off Italy against the vibrant new German outfit, so I won’t make the same mistake again—it’s anyone’s game. But if you were asking where I’d prefer to go on holiday, Italy would win every time.
July 1, 2012 at 6:42 pm
Hi, Jeff Porter…my husband and I would agree with that. The thing is that the Italians can get rather pissy and let’s hope there isn’t any head bashing crap and they just play ball. But I really am psyched for Italy because of Balotelli. May the best team win!
July 1, 2012 at 6:43 pm
The name ‘Minoli’ wouldn’t be Italian would it? 😉
July 1, 2012 at 6:43 pm
I love the Italians. They are so gorgeous. So passionate. So serious!
July 1, 2012 at 6:43 pm
The goalie rocks. Closes his eyes…imagining winning!
July 1, 2012 at 6:44 pm
Ummmm…duh Martin J Brown Jr! Hello! And welcome to my post! (But whose side are you on my friend????)

July 1, 2012 at 6:46 pm
Giselle Minoli ;-))) I’m a big Barca fan, too easy since they’re the best, but I just want to see a good game. I s’pose I lean a bit towards Espana. 🙂

July 1, 2012 at 6:48 pm

Balotelli is gonna go home bruised today.
July 1, 2012 at 6:55 pm
First Italy has to get the ball into the offensive zone, Billy Harvey!
July 1, 2012 at 6:57 pm
I’ll give you the Spaniards are fast…
July 1, 2012 at 6:58 pm
groan…. so close
July 1, 2012 at 6:59 pm
Not close at all. An over eager move (it makes me crazy when they roll on the ground and whine)…
July 1, 2012 at 6:59 pm
I’ll give it to the Italians… they have writhing on the ground over a non-existence hit down pat.
July 1, 2012 at 6:59 pm
;-))
July 1, 2012 at 7:00 pm

July 1, 2012 at 7:09 pm
Martin J Brown Jr God must be pissed Italy is losing so he’s delivering unto us a thunderstorm in CT.
July 1, 2012 at 7:10 pm
Did you see those costumes James Barraford? That would be entertaining for a HangOut.
July 1, 2012 at 7:10 pm
;-)))
July 1, 2012 at 7:10 pm
No…She, in her infinite wisdom, is protecting you from the sorrow of losing.
July 1, 2012 at 7:10 pm
hunting for alternative feed via the computer
July 1, 2012 at 7:11 pm
Giselle, she has an amazing amount of patience waiting so long for victory.
July 1, 2012 at 7:12 pm
Are you guys back up? I am.
July 1, 2012 at 7:12 pm
Ref should issue Pique a yellow before the match starts just to save time.
July 1, 2012 at 7:15 pm
Storm knocked out ESPN signal and I live 15 miles to the east of there. Dark skies…. oh joy
July 1, 2012 at 7:16 pm
James Barraford SUCH A BUMMER!
July 1, 2012 at 7:17 pm
Got a backup via USTREAM.TV, there’s also via BBC1 at a number of places
July 1, 2012 at 7:18 pm
Giselle Minoli After seeing what the DC has to go through I’m not complaining. My signal keeps going.
July 1, 2012 at 7:18 pm
the ustream by ‘DJguanko’ is an italian feed, I think.
July 1, 2012 at 7:22 pm
We were in Italy two summers ago for the World Cup. The country hung their heads in shame over the team. Over paid, under disciplined. That was then. This is now…
July 1, 2012 at 7:27 pm
I’m in Rome watching the madness unfold right now!!:)
July 1, 2012 at 7:27 pm
Zach Cumer Awesome
July 1, 2012 at 7:28 pm
Goal!!!!!
July 1, 2012 at 7:28 pm
Gooooooooooooooooooal.
July 1, 2012 at 7:28 pm
should’ve stopped that, you could see what was going to happen for a long time
July 1, 2012 at 7:29 pm
Zach Cumer take cover
July 1, 2012 at 7:30 pm
Sorry Espana all the way
July 1, 2012 at 7:31 pm
if the Italians could get one before half…
July 1, 2012 at 7:33 pm
Hey, the Italian goalie made a save.
July 1, 2012 at 7:34 pm
James Barraford He had no real chance of stopping either one of the goals
July 1, 2012 at 7:36 pm
Martin J Brown Jr I know. 🙂
July 1, 2012 at 7:42 pm
I’m sulking….
July 1, 2012 at 7:42 pm
Giselle Minoli I was wondering 😉
July 1, 2012 at 7:44 pm
Women are allowed to sulk….. men get to complain.
July 1, 2012 at 7:47 pm
No. Men get to writhe on the grass and say OWWWWWW holding their heads, their ankles and their knees. At least I admit I am sulking…
July 1, 2012 at 7:49 pm
2nd half begins!
July 1, 2012 at 7:49 pm
Zach Cumer You in a bar? Has a webcam?
July 1, 2012 at 7:56 pm
Let’s just say that no amount of Prosecco can erase the misery of watching this…
July 1, 2012 at 7:58 pm
Giselle Minoli Don’t give up, yet. You’ve got most of a half to go.
July 1, 2012 at 8:06 pm
I”ve done that. As a dancer. Could sit up though…
July 1, 2012 at 8:06 pm
A stretcher for a hammie? Do they give give blood transfusions for hangnails?
July 1, 2012 at 8:07 pm
He didn’t want the hammie….
July 1, 2012 at 8:07 pm
So stupid question why can’t they substitute for an injured player? Misconduct is one thing…but…what’s going on?
July 1, 2012 at 8:08 pm
I’ve done it playing high school football. It’s painful, yes. Stretcher is theatre.
July 1, 2012 at 8:08 pm
you’d just fake it all the time to make extra substitutions
July 1, 2012 at 8:09 pm
I agree, G. I got laughed at for asking the qestion.
July 1, 2012 at 8:10 pm
Apparently, Italy have made all their allowed substitutions.
July 1, 2012 at 8:10 pm
Seriously? It makes sense Martin J Brown Jr now that I think about it…and how whiney soccer players are in general. So that is the way to tell that this injury is real, right???
July 1, 2012 at 8:11 pm
I don’t mind getting laughed at dawn ahukanna. Won’t be the first or last time. 😉
July 1, 2012 at 8:12 pm
Giselle Minoli yeah, you wouldn’t do it and leave yourself a man down
July 1, 2012 at 8:14 pm
Stiff penalty…a man down because of an injury. There’s no way now. Wouldn’t it also create situations where a player would play injured (if they could) so as not to penalize the team? Martin J Brown Jr?
July 1, 2012 at 8:14 pm
When soccer is well played it’s a beauty to watch. That’s why it’s so maddening to see the diving and writhing.
July 1, 2012 at 8:15 pm
I agree James Barraford It’s like ballet (sorry guys) unbelievable. But this game is slow as molasses… Slower, actually, if that’s possible.
July 1, 2012 at 8:16 pm
I can imagine players pushing themselves to play with injury for less than the European championship.
July 1, 2012 at 8:18 pm
Giselle Minoli sure, happens frequently enough, funky ankles, etc., if the hammies goes you’re not doing anything. Take him into the locker room, shoot him up with a painkiller, wrap the hell outta the hammie, and then maybe send him back into the game for that last corner at the end of the game when you’re down 2-1.
July 1, 2012 at 8:19 pm
Slower for one side. I don’t mean to be a smart ass. Spain was playing very fast in the 1st half. Didn’t need to in 2nd. Italy playing like they hung out in Kiev’s dankest strip club last night.
July 1, 2012 at 8:19 pm
James Barraford ;-))
July 1, 2012 at 8:20 pm
Wine and women. And more wine, and even more women. (Don’t tell any of the Italians I wrote that.)
July 1, 2012 at 8:20 pm
And where’s Balotelli?! what’s he had, one shot, wide and ugly?
July 1, 2012 at 8:21 pm
Giselle Minoli Sounds good… except for that wine part. ;-))
July 1, 2012 at 8:21 pm
They circled the wagons around him…but, yeah like Jeremy Lin’s 15 minutes of fame.
July 1, 2012 at 8:21 pm
Has Balotelli touched the ball?
July 1, 2012 at 8:22 pm
rarely
July 1, 2012 at 8:22 pm
Won’t tell them G, they can just read it themselves.
July 1, 2012 at 8:23 pm
What is the word for group suicide in Italian?
July 1, 2012 at 8:23 pm
Italy playing with ZERO energy, atm.
July 1, 2012 at 8:25 pm
Sara un suicidio di massa dopo il gioco… Un grande peccato…
July 1, 2012 at 8:27 pm
Goal!
July 1, 2012 at 8:27 pm
Gooooooal. And there is the 3-0 I predicted. (ducking)
July 1, 2012 at 8:28 pm
A trouncing. A total humiliation. Horrible.
July 1, 2012 at 8:28 pm
Feels too late for a come back by Italy. Playing for pride only, or maybe not even that.
July 1, 2012 at 8:28 pm
Thanks dawn ahukanna I got that.
July 1, 2012 at 8:31 pm
John Lewis their coach is shrugging his shoulders. Shrugging. He’s not even screaming and gesticulating wildly. Just the lowly resigned shrug. What does that tell you?
July 1, 2012 at 8:32 pm
Going for broke. Another goal!
July 1, 2012 at 8:32 pm
Get the bulldozer, time for a mass grave.
July 1, 2012 at 8:32 pm
That’s it. I’m done. I’m turning off my computer. I’ve had all the fun I can stand! Happy everyone?
July 1, 2012 at 8:32 pm
10 against 9. Easy win.
July 1, 2012 at 8:33 pm
Would have loved to have seen a more competitive Italy.
July 1, 2012 at 8:33 pm
C’e stata una miseria!
July 1, 2012 at 8:35 pm
Me, too Martin J Brown Jr. I thought it might be a close game. I did not expect this. Even James Barraford didn’t guess that score.
July 1, 2012 at 8:35 pm
Well….fish and chips for me dawn ahukanna and then I’ll fling myself off London Bridge.
July 1, 2012 at 8:36 pm
Giselle Minoli You’re clever. I’m wondering if you can get the riddle of the post I just did on my stream?
July 1, 2012 at 8:36 pm
Don’t do the London Bridge thing Giselle Minoli !
July 1, 2012 at 8:38 pm
Duh, James Barraford Balotelli’s ex-girlfriends’ baby bump.
July 1, 2012 at 8:39 pm
Giselle Minoli Give me some credit for being clever… not even close.
July 1, 2012 at 8:40 pm
Okay tell me. Off to Sunday night Pilates to wash away the memory of THIS. Thank you all for your company. You all were the BEST part of the last 2 hours. Cheerio!
July 1, 2012 at 8:41 pm
Giselle Minoli Thanks for hosting this tea party. Enjoyed the conversation. Lunch time, I’m outta here. See you all next time.
July 1, 2012 at 8:42 pm
Night all. Thanks for the company and chat during the game.
July 1, 2012 at 8:49 pm
Giselle Minoli you might win a medal, we’ve made it an olympic sport just for the London games 😉
July 1, 2012 at 8:53 pm
James Barraford You MUST tell me…but I do have to leave now. I expect an answer on my return!
July 1, 2012 at 8:54 pm
Hint: current events non-football related.
July 1, 2012 at 9:05 pm
Hi Giselle Minoli I just saw this after the game was over. I didn’t get on the PC to avoid predictions (for Scaramanzia). To bad we lost but the victory od the Spainards was well deserved. They did not steal anything. Hat Tip to the champs.
The greates satisfaction in this competition was to beat the “Crucchi”, the Germans.
July 1, 2012 at 9:17 pm
So much for your prediction…LOL!
July 1, 2012 at 11:39 pm
Aren’t you glad I’m not your investment banker John Lipscomb?
July 1, 2012 at 11:53 pm
However, in my defense…I bet my husband twice that the Giants would win the SB and won a car. He won’t be me anymore…
July 1, 2012 at 11:55 pm
James Barraford obviously I’m not clever enough. WHAT IS THE HIDDEN RIDDLE?
July 2, 2012 at 12:12 am
Giselle Minoli Do you know the song’s lyrics?
July 2, 2012 at 12:30 am
Yes, that’s why I thought it was about Balotelli. Don’t let me orbit around out here forever, especially after having embarrassed myself about the outcome of the game….
July 2, 2012 at 12:49 am
Ciao Zach Cumer! Rome is one of my very favorite cities. Welcome to my post….from so far, far, far away…
July 2, 2012 at 12:50 am
Back in Los Angeles next week ha
July 2, 2012 at 12:51 am
Did you like Rome Zach Cumer?
July 2, 2012 at 12:52 am
Don’t wanna leave my hertiage/ homeland
July 2, 2012 at 12:53 am
#love Rome. Been finding all the cool non touristy spots
July 2, 2012 at 12:58 am
Jealous of your being there Zach Cumer. Could walk around that city for days. I like the big photo of Venice…the one on the left. Went often to a little outdoor trattoria on Campo de Fiori to watch the World Cup games. We had a lot of fun…
July 2, 2012 at 1:12 am
Giselle Minoli “No money” lyrics = Spain. I’m too abstract, I fear.
July 2, 2012 at 1:17 am
James Barraford I would never have gotten that. You are way out there. Out there in an interesting place, to be sure. But you are way out there! Love it…
July 2, 2012 at 1:27 am
Giselle Minoli I don’t know why the several lines about no money but love anyway came to me. You should feel for my wife that has to deal with that sort of thinking constantly.
July 2, 2012 at 1:30 am
James Barraford your wife likes you…so I like your wife. Simple.
July 2, 2012 at 6:56 am
Giselle Minoli It was one of the saddest nights ever…
I was in the Circo Massimo with 300.000 people…you can easily imagine our feelings….
At the end of the day I must admit that Spain deserved it…they play the best football ever…that’s it…
July 2, 2012 at 10:42 am
Caro Claudio Romagnoli L’ho so! L’ho so. Ma ho devoto dire l’universe che volevo vincere l”italia. La prossima volta…force. Buona giornata, Claudio….
July 3, 2012 at 2:38 am
So depressed Matthew Graybosch about the dreaded game I didn’t get back to this post until now. Silly, isn’t it? It’s just a game. Yet Italy has a special place in my heart and for whatever reason so does soccer. Maybe because as a child when my brother was playing Rugby I was playing soccer. And then I didn’t for a long time. But my husband’s brother and nephews are big soccer players…so there is “the talk” in my house. And there you have it in a nutshell!
